Chris Wainwright's recent work further develops his long term interest in the areas of digital and time based media alongside traditional photography and installed works as a means of further exploring the functions of time, duration and illumination centred on sparsely populated sites at night in Berlin, London, Tokyo, Istanbul and Los Angeles. Other recent works include collaborative video works with David Bickerstaff shown as installations and screenings in festivals and galleries in London, Sao Paolo, Montreal, Tokyo and Graz.

The most recent project the 'Red Sea" develops these overall concerns in relation to the interface between the land and the sea within the increasingly important debate surrounding the catastrophic predictions of the effects of climate change.
